Shyam (Samson) Karki – Kathmandu, Nepal
Bio: Widely recognized as one of the finest cinematographers working in Nepal. Presently with Shunyata Film Production, has worked for many prestigious national and international television and film companies like CNN and Al Jazeera Arabic and some renowned national and international filmmakers and journalists, including award-winning filmmakers Kesang Tseten (Who will be a Gurkha and Trembling Mountain, among others) extensively. Has produced several short films and worked with CNN on post-quake productions and Al Jazeera Arabic.
Why: The community is very poor. They are not sending their children to school because the good school is too far. Our team is building a school nearby the village so the children can go easily to the school. This is a very important task and we need more support from all over the world to build more school(s).
