Headed to Malawi (East Africa): Project Start July 2, 2023
Malawi is consistently ranked among the world’s 20 least developed countries on the UN Human Development Index. Seventy-one percent of the country’s population lives below the poverty line of US $1.90 a day. Nearly half of primary school-age children dropout before advancing to secondary school and the literacy rate in Malawi is only 62% among people 15 years old and older.
Team Dayā is scheduled to start its school groundbreaking in Malawi on Sunday, July 2, 2023. If you are interested in learning more, or possibly traveling with us to work on the groundbreaking, please contact us.

Why: It all started during my semester studying abroad in Germany and Austria, when I was exposed to the vast experiences you gain from travel. Following my college experience, I have had the benefit of living abroad in South America and Europe as I have pursued my career in media which furthered my passion for travel and new cultures.
Once my husband and I were married and had our daughter, travel became a central part of our family vacations. During our first trip to Kenya, we had the opportunity to donate playground equipment and supplies to a local school. Visiting the school and meeting the children was the highlight of our trip. The children were so appreciative and so much of what we take for granted is so meaningful to them. This experience motivated us to prioritize giving back to schools in the countries we visit as well as to our own community.
