Nate Yi – Haddonfield, New Jersey

Bio: I am a high school sophomore at Haddonfield Memorial High School. While I am very focused on my studies, student government (class secretary), robotics and model UN, I am also very active in sports – lacrosse, football, wrestling and crew. In my spare time, I like to volunteer in Philadelphia at Cradles to Crayons where I am in the teen leadership program. I enjoy traveling with my family and learning about new cultures, food and communities.
Why: I am just starting to understand the challenges of our global communities. I also know that I have been blessed with advantages and opportunities to succeed. And that it is my obligation to help those less fortunate when I can help make an impact. I want to go to Guatemala to help the less fortunate children from that community. I hope to make their lives better by giving the children an opportunity to learn and become better equipped to lift their lives. So far, during my life I have enjoyed traveling as well as volunteering to help people in need. This is a rare opportunity to combine those passions. I can’t wait to go to Guatemala, learn about the culture, meet/live with the local people and help build schools. I can’t wait to go there with my dad and spend quality time with him as we do this together.
