Sajal Patel – Chicago
Bio: Sajal is the director of partnerships & business development at Nextdoor. She has also worked at TransUnions, Turn, Razorfish and VivaKi.
Why: This year, I turned 40. It’s been a time of deep reflection about the path that brought me to where I am today and the privileges that shaped my journey. As a first-generation Indian American woman, I was taught about the power of education and the difference it can make in one’s life—not just as knowledge gained, but as freedom earned.
I’m grateful for every choice education has made possible in my life. Today, I am fortunate to be in a place where I can help others. That’s why I’m joining Team Dayā this October to help build a school in rural Nepal. Team Daya has provided the chance to help ensure that children in rural Nepal have those same opportunities—the chance to dream bigger than their circumstances and the tools to make those dreams reality.
This project represents the best of what’s possible when we come together across continents and cultures around a shared belief: that every child deserves the freedom that comes with education.
Every dollar goes directly to construction materials and ensuring children in rural Nepal have access to safe, year-round education.
